What does philanthropy mean to you? Tell us your story!
That was the question asked by the Rockefeller Foundation on their web site and sent out to their email list. The answers were written into a beautiful piece of art done by Phil Hansen.
My answer was “Philanthropy is actually a selfish concept! For if people would realize that if they help the rest of the world, they would actually be helping themselves!”
I received the following email on October 17,2013:
I kept running back and forth between watching Phil writing in the piece and cooking our dinner.
Then at 5:05 p.m. I watched Phil Hansen write my words. I knew instantly, as he was writing them, that they were mine. He wrote them horizontally across the middle of the child’s chin . You may view the drawing of the child at philinthecircle.com
This Ted Talk is how Phil faced adversity and over came his handicap and it is an inspiration to us all. My TED Talk: http://on.ted.com/PhilHansen
I truly believe that if we help ANYONE, it will come back around to us, especially Africa.
Africa is the next pioneer land. There are thousands of acres to farm to feed OUR people. Thousands of acres to grow trees to put oxygen back into OUR air.
By helping people in Africa and around the world, we, meaning you and SEEDS, are helping them to become self sufficient and look after them selves.
What ever you can give in the short term and long run will help you and your children and children’s children etc. etc. etc.
