SEED up for the holiday season!
It’s that time of year again! The snow is (possibly) falling, the carolers are singing, and with all of this holly jolly spirit in the air, we here at SEEDS are taking a moment to reflect back on our progress this past year.
We kicked off 2014 with a Skate for SEEDS at the Evergreen Brickworks where visitors of all ages had a blast and learned how they could play their own part in helping the people of Zambia.
We shared with the children at Eastminister United Church and Berner Trail Public School, the secret to sorting and drying Non-GMO vegetable seeds.
We had a radio interview with The Green Majority in Toronto and spoke at the Zambian Canadian Association Independence Day Party.
We had a booth at many Seedy Saturdays and the Canadian Organic Grows Conference where we met some wonderful like minded people.
In April, we built a Resource Centre/garden and a tree nursery for the Silozi Seed Bank and Trees for Elephants and the people of Mongu enjoyed our first harvest in August.
One of our most exciting achievement this year is our win of $600USD from the Awesome Foundation Grant http://www.awesomefoundation.org/en/chapters/lusaka for the best idea of August 2014; the money was sent straight to Mongu to repair our broken borehole.
We organized our Voluntourism Trip to Zambia for August 1st-21st, 2015 so if you would like to join us go to “Contact Us”.
There is much much more to tell but it can wait until the new year!
Of course, none of this would be possible without you, our amazing supporters and volunteers.
Thank you all so much for your generous contributions, no matter their size. What we have accomplished so far together is already remarkable, here’s to another great year!
Happiest of Holidays!
