After meeting everyone ( outside in the dark, we moved into a conference area with tables and chairs and brought all of the luggage in. Frederick suggested that we wait and give the gifts in the morning but I am sure they were as excited to receive them as I was to give. I told Frederick I couldn’t wait until tomorrow so we started. The following pictures were taken by my wonderful husband. If not for him, I would not have this photo journal.

Every time I go to Zambia I have a theme in relation to gifts I take. In 2011 it was ” items for the family to make extra money”. Therefore in 2011 I took, a chisel set, saw, sewing items etc. This trip, 2012, my theme was” education”. Due to the fact we were taking money to send Njamba and his twin sister Ngebe, to high school I took a lot of school supplies. Paper is hard to find and expensive there so I took many ringed note books, pens, pencils, coloured pencils, back packs, clothing etc.
After the gift giving we all retired to our perspective rooms for the night.
Carl & I went to bed and were woken in the middle of the night by the sound of rushing water. There was a shower room across the hall from our room and it was running full blast. Carl got up and turned it off only to find an outside tap was gushing water as well. There are many issues in Kalabo with getting replacement parts for everything including plumbing and the outside tap had string tied on it to keep it from dripping. Basically the threads were stripped. Carl asked me if I had any string and the only thing I could come up with was dental floss. So Carl went back outside and tied up the tap so it would not gush water.
We got up in the morning and the guest house I cooked
everyone eggs and buns for breakfast. After that I showed Njamba & his family the pictures and video I had taken during my visit with Njamba, his Mom and sister Ngebe in 2011. They loved them.
Frederick and I then went to Nyoka Guest House to see if we could get rooms for our remaining 3 days and we went back to the community guest
house for me to cook lunch and for everyone to pack.
