Our charity is in Zambia but poor leadership and corruption has reduced a once booming country into a shell of poverty. Zimbabweans are now running to neighboring countries to scratch for a living. Women are surviving on prostitution in countries like Zambia, Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique. What more damage can leadership do to see the suffering of the people? That their citizen’s dignity has been degraded due to harsh economic realities orchestrated by poor leadership. With all this, corruption keeps skyrocketing at the expense of a failed agriculture and health system. Unknown African author!
Patrick Maboshe is a wonderful man who is helping the people of Barotseland in Zambia in so many ways. He is Founder of Maboshe Memmorial Centre (MMC) dedicated to his beloved father.
He is contacting governments and advocating for people with disabilities, keeping girls in school, assisting with accessible health care for prostitutes, deaf & blind people, educating about Covid-19, cleaning up the garbage in towns and much more.
Last year SEEDS sent Patrick pre made washable menstruation kits purchased from Days For Girls in Toronto https://www.daysforgirls.org/canada along with material, thread, scissors, etc. to make more washable sanitary napkins for girls so they would not loose that week of school every month.

Patrick doesn’t waste anything and I am so pleased that he used some of the material we sent to make masks. He donated 30 of them to disabled children and 20 to sex workers in Barotseland and they continue to make more. I have just been informed that as of mid July there were 9 reported cases in Barotseland, Western Province. – Mongu (5); Kaoma (2); Senanga (1); Sesheke (1), source of this information- Ministry of Health Zambia. as of August 11, 2020 there are 8275 cases in all of Zambia and 241 deaths but probably more in both Mongu and the whole of Zambia as testing is low. It is now mandatory to wear a mask when not in your own home and police will stop you and issue a 1500 Kwatcha ( approximately 108.65 CAD) fine if you are found outside with out a mask.
This is my friend Darlene with a great video to show how to properly wear your mask.
