Today, October 29th, 2018 is our Fifth Anniversary as a Registered Canadian Charity and we have grown more than I could have ever imagined. We now have two garages and a store, SEEDS Garage Sales, 1 Browning Ave. Toronto, M4K 1V6, phone 647 444 -5534. https://goo.gl/maps/pd9ydaaTNKk so we are ready for the winter as all I have to do is open up the doors and people can browse to their heart’s content and believe me, people spend hours foraging through all of the items for sale that people have donated to us.
Thank you to everyone who has donated items or has purchased some of our great donations!
We are getting ready to send more seeds to our, now, 6 locations in Zambia, in the 1st week of November. I am waiting to collect the pumpkin seeds after Halloween so if you have any whole pumpkins you would like to donate (or the raw seeds) please let me know and thanks so much!
96% of the money earned goes to directly to our beneficiaries and we are helping many people in Canada as well.
We have donated 3 strollers, 2 high chairs, 13 boxes of baby clothes and various maternity clothes and baby accessories to Massey Centre on Broadview Ave. in Toronto.
We have donated many boxes of children’s books to the Pickering Reading Circle who assists both children and adults with their reading skills. We learned about this program through the Rotary Club of Pickering who do wonderful work helping both here in Canada and abroad. https://pickeringrotary.ca/.
We have also donated books to Brampton Family Court for kids to read while there and local Libraries in Toronto and the Holland Centre that they sell to the public.
We have donated clothing, furniture, kitchen supplies, school supplies, coats, boots and shoes to new immigrants and poor people in Toronto.
We have donated clothing and various necessities to people who are able to take items to the underprivileged in Cuba, The Philippines, Sri Lanka, Iran, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Ghana and Venezuela.
We donated 40 prom dresses to the students at Bendale B.T.I who graduated in 2018.
We have many elderly clients who are living off of their pensions or ODSP who thoroughly appreciate our low prices.
We sell our paperback books for 25 cents and our hard covers for 50 cents so we have a customer who buys them to take to China and teaches ESL and another customer who buys all of our donated French books for a sweet girl who is sharing them all with her french class at school.
We have also given over 60 high school students- frankly I have lost count-, their 40 community hours required to graduate and provide volunteer positions for court ordered hours.
There is more that we have donated and I will tell you another time but for now we cannot forget how much we are all NOT putting in our landfill! Bravo!
So it turns out that Socio-Economic and Environmental Development Solutions(SEEDS) is helping much more than we ever imagined, not just in Zambia, but here in Canada and many other countries as well.
Drop by SEEDS Garage Sales Store between 10am-4pm or call Joanne for assistance outside of those hours. 647 444-5534.
Or join us in July 2019 and volunteer with SEEDS in Zambia for the trip of your life to help many more lives there.
Happy Fall to you all and Thanks again for all of your help!
Hi Joannes,
I can attest to all you said here…kudos to you and those angels that are donating the items. My family and I sincerely appreciate your support and assistance both materially and otherwise.
Believe me, SEEDs has a very bright future.
Thanks
