S.O.S.
I am jumping a head of myself as I had planned to write the blogs in chronological order so I could tell you the whole story of my trip in April 2014 to Zambia.
Unfortunately I found out two weeks after I came home that the bore hole we use to water the resource garden and trees in the tree nursery is no longer functioning.
The pipes bringing the water up to the surface are old and have cracked and fallen apart.
I wondered why the water was a brownish colour when I was there. I was told the water had a lot of iron in it. Well I now know it was rust!
Therefore we URGENTLY need funds to repair the bore hole and purchase a submersive pump.
This bore hole also provided water for the people who live on the Barotse Flood Plain during the dry season and come up to higher land to homestead when the plain is flooded.
People come up from the plain and find a spot to build a grass hut during the rainy season usually back in the bush.
Some of these people have homesteaded on Fredrick’s land and were getting, what we thought was, clean water from our bore hole.
We need approximately $1500CAD to fix the borehole so any donations would be greatly appreciated and allow us to keep watering the 450 tree seedlings we have in our tree nursery.
We also have a resource garden where we are growing cool weather crops this time of year like cabbage, Kabocha Squash, garlic. We also have sweet peppers, green beans, carrot and herbs.
We need the water for this garden as well.
We are presently buying big drums of water that we manually pump into the water reservoir with a foot pump.
So if you could spare a few dollars we can get the bore hole repaired.
Thank you so much!
