Monday, March 31,2014 , I thought of you Carl at 3:35 a.m. as I heard my first rooster crow. You’ll be happy to know the dogs were fairly quiet at that particular moment. “Moment”, is the key word here as I am sure you remember. Here’s to the first of 30 days in Zambia! We will find out when I will be used to the roosters morning call and sleep right through it. I lay there trying to go back to sleep but this was my first day training my first pupils so I got up and got organized. See previous blog “First to Lusaka”. I have to say, when Carl came with me to Zambia in 2012 he had trouble sleeping the first few nights. One of Carl’s most frequent stories about his trip to Africa is how the roosters don’t just crow in the early morning, as he puts it “they crow all the time”. Ironically, I rarely have a problem sleeping in Zambia. I am either too exhausted or I just feel at home. Carl is the one who likes background noise when he sleeps and I like peace and quiet. Anyway, I thought of my husband daily on this trip. It is the longest we have been away from each other in our 14 years together. If it wasn’t for Carl, I would not be able to do all of this. He has been my financial backer, my occasional editor, my photographer and videographer, my sounding board, my chef, my handy man with his trusty leatherman, my cheer leader and my best friend. So Thanks to you Carl, All my Love!
