The rains have slowly started falling in Zambia so this is the time to send seeds.
This is Colin, one of our student volunteers working with SEEDS towards his community hours for high school.
Colin is dividing up the seeds into five bags to send to Mongu, Kalabo, Sioma, Chipata & Kaoma in Zambia.
We have sent Butternut and Acorn Squash, Italian Parsley, Jalapeno & sweet peppers, garlic, red potatoe, Honey Dew Melon . Cantaloupe, Baking Pumpkin, Lettuce, Thyme, Tomatoe, plum, peach, and pear seeds. All of these seeds have been rerouted from going into the compost pile thanks to the culinary students at Bendale B.T.I and the seeds I have saved myself.
We have just sent 28,208 seeds via DHL.
Our newest location in Kaoma is where the person who was the inspiration for SEEDS now lives. Njamba!
Here is a recent picture of Njamba trying to get water for his Tomatoe plants from a hole he dug.
I think he needs a bore hole-and a new bucket LOL- and I am pleased to announce that The Rotary Club of Pickering has just donated $1000CAD which will go towards getting him one in Kaoma.
We have also used the generous donation from Pickering Rotary Club for a bore hole just completed at The Ngoni Seed Bank & Trees For Elephants in Chipata on the Eastern side of Zambia. Dec. 2018.
Thank you so much Pickering Rotary!
This is just an example of what your great work does and we are so grateful!
